Packing Summer Clothes Away for the Season by Dawn

Packing Summer Clothes Away for the Season by Dawn

As an image consultant I get asked question about at every season about when and how to clean those closets and rearrange for the coming season.

But before you start changing your closet from summer to fall take some time to examine and organize your spring/summer clothes as you retire them for the next 6 months. You’ll feel so excited next year when you transition your wardrobe from fall/winter. Taking a little time now will save you time next March! Here are ten easy tips to take.

1. See what needs to go. Have you hung onto clothes that didn’t fit you this year or didn’t fit you last year? If so it is time to call it quits, hanging on to clothes that don’t fit are taking up space. Let go of anything that doesn’t fit your life style, or come close to your personal style formula.

2. If your clothes have stains from boating, backyard barbeques, family reunions or just those simple picnics you took this summer, take them to the cleaners now. Don’t pack anything away that has a stain on it, it will only get worse. Take a good look at your light colored handbags; did they get stained when they rubbed up against your darkest blue jeans? Take them to a shoe repair person and see if they can get the stain out.

3. T-shirts only last a season. Go through your light or white T-shirts and toss the ones that have yellowed armpits. Replace them next spring.

4. Take a look at your colored T-shirts and blouses. Have your black ones faded and turned brownish? Are your blues ones looking darker in some areas and lighter in others? If they have faded and lost their luster get rid of them.

5. Did you purchase an end of the season item that needs alterations, make a note in the following February to put in your calendar to have it altered in March. No sense in altering it before you have a chance to wear it.

6. Store hats you want to wear next year in hat boxes. Protect them from getting wrecked. Toss the worn ones out.

7. Check out the container store for small to medium sized containers to store you summer things in. There are many different styles to choose from, such as styles made of strong canvas, durable tech fabrics. Be careful of the plastic coded ones they tend to carry an awful smell that doesn’t go away. You don’t want your clothes absorbing that smell for six months.

8. Write down in your wardrobe log, (if you don’t have one, I suggest starting one) what items you got rid of and need to replace. The same goes for dresses, accessories or any key pieces. What did you really enjoy wearing this year? Plan to shop for these must-haves in the spring.

9. Call ahead to book some time with your Image Consultant to go over your wardrobe planning and shopping for next spring or make a note to call her in January to get her on your schedule. Like maintaining your hair, car, appliances etc… your wardrobe needs regular check-ups also.

10. Call me! Whether you need help packing up your summer wardrobe, unpacking your fall wardrobe, or transitioning into the fall season, I am here to help.

Affordable solutions for staying organized, fashionable AND confident on the go!

Affordable solutions for staying organized, fashionable AND confident on the go!

As the owner of Metro Woman, I want to share with you my secret for staying organized, fashionable and confident. As a mother and business owner, I find myself ALWAYS on the go! Miche has helped me keep my latest issue of the Twin Cities Metro Woman Directory, all of my marketing materials, business cards, wallet, lip gloss, even sippy cups, snacks and more well organized in my trendy prima bag. I love how I can switch my shell depending on my outfit each day without moving everything inside. Miche offers bags in many different sizes from petite, classic, demi, to prima. As diverse as women are, we all have our own preference- but mine is the prima or demi for sure! I seam to carry what seams like my entire 'life' with me everywhere I go! I have this idea that I always have to be prepared and thanks to Miche I have confidence that I am- all the time! My sister on the other hand prefers the classic bag and has found it easier to cut back on carrying around unnecessary things in hers. She doesn't need to carry marketing materials, baby diapers, or anything larger in size so she prefers to keep just the basics. The classic shell works well for her and still fits her latest issue of Metro Woman! A good friend of mine loves the petite shell for going out for a night on the town. I think it's important to share the Miche story with you so you can understand how Miche came to be...

On the way home from work in the fall of 2004, a young homemaker did something most women have done—she spilled on her favorite handbag. Frustrated by the thought of hunting for a replacement then transferring all the contents, she wished there was a way to just change the outside of the bag. The idea immediately popped into her mind to create a bag with changeable covers. Not to be deterred by her lack of sewing skills, she grabbed her super glue and some scrap fabric, took apart the stained bag, and made the very first prototype. With her rough creation in hand, she set out on a mission to bring the Miche Bag to life.

How Do You Pronounce That Name Again?

Our unique name is pronounced MEE-CHEE!

A Company is Born

The homemaker shared her initial idea and concept with two reputable businessmen, Corbin B. Church and Chris Seegmiller. Corbin had experience running successful businesses and Chris had a background in importing and exporting. The combined expertise of the two put Miche Bag firmly on the road to success. Under the guidance of CEO Corbin Church, Miche Bag has experienced tremendous growth and its employees are excited about the future of the company. Recent growth includes new products being released monthly as well as expansion of the business into international markets.

Miche Today

We think Miche Bags are one of the greatest gifts to womankind since waterproof mascara, and we're always looking for enterprising women just like you to help spread the joy around. If you are looking for a rewarding career with an up-and-coming "now" company or if you want to host a Miche Party in your neighborhood, be sure to check out the many opportunities offered by your forward-thinking partners in fashion at Miche Bag. And to think, it all started with a spill!

Not only are Shells interchangeable, but the handles are too! If you're in the mood for chain-style handles instead of your long straps, quickly make the switch! What size Miche bag fits YOUR lifestyle? Of course I'm a representative for Miche- because I LOVE THEM! Wardrobe Tips That Maintain Style During Weight Loss by Dawn

Wardrobe Tips That Maintain Style During Weight Loss by Dawn

Are you in the process of losing weight? Do you find it hard to find clothes that fit?
As an image consultant, I am often asked how to maintain style without buying new clothes at every significant stage of weight loss. I have some tips to consider on how to make your wardrobe work for you as you go through your weight loss process.

Pants- sagging in the rear, try investing in skirts or dresses for this transition period. Skirts & dresses hide assets, camouflage baggy hips and give you a more feminine and flattering appeal to your look.
Tops- usually you start losing from the top down which means we tend to lose in the breast area first, than the waist and it goes down from there. How can you make your tops work for you? I suggest you find a good tailor to take a quick nip and tuck. Don’t have a tailor?- I do so give me a call. Invest in a great belt that can pull some fabric in and give you a more defined waist line. Wearing a sweater over a top can hide some excess fabric.
Maxi dresses- are a great option; they have a flatting look to them. I would caution you to stay away from big floral prints. Solid or small pattern will compliment your figure the best. They are trendy but still in style for the summer. If you haven’t been one to wear dresses in the past, I highly recommend giving it a try.
When purchasing clothing while in the weight loss phase, shop consignment but shop quality. Quality will make you look great and feel fabulous. Spend less on trends and more on classic pieces that can take you anywhere.

Give yourself permission to have less in your wardrobe by mixing and matching a few great pieces, until you reach your goal weight.

Don’t let the lack of well fitting clothes get in your way of not losing weight. A few of these tips will help you continue on your weight loss journey. Reward yourself weekly or monthly by treating yourself to a manicure or pedicure. Heck even a great massage will make you feel rejuvenated and worthy of your goal.

Be INTENTIONAL in your wardrobe selection every day. Plan your outfit the night before, it will make a huge difference on how you show up. Don’t forget your accessories, from head to toe.

When you look great you feel fabulous, and when you feel fabulous your self esteem and self confidence builds and you perform at a higher level.

Need some assistance in this area? I am very knowledgeable in helping people alleviate frustration and I will partner with you during your weight loss journey.
